Our Mission

In a world deeply threatened by Climate Change, sustainability is the way to go. In our 6000-kilometer journey along one of the most used highways of the country, spanning 5 of the biggest cities of the country, we hope to trigger the mindset of people, and start conversations around Solar Energy, Electric mobility and Healthy Living.

UN’s Sustainable Development Goals

The United Nations has defined Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030, otherwise known as the Global Goals. These are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

The 17 Goals defined by the UN build on the successes of the Millennium Development Goals, while including new areas such as climate change, economic inequality, innovation, sustainable consumption, peace, and justice, among other priorities. The goals are interconnected – often the key to success on one will involve tackling issues more commonly associated with another.

Since its inception in 2016, The SunPedal Ride initiative has triggered and enabled interactions around the topic of sustainability via the medium of solar-powered electric vehicles. Our main focus is on –

WHAT CHANGES, YOU ASK?

A NITI Aayog report released in 2018 said India can save 64 per cent of anticipated passenger road-based mobility-related energy demand and 37 per cent of carbon emissions in 2030 by pursuing a shared, electric and connected mobility strategy. This, according to the report would result in a reduction of 156 million tonnes of oil equivalent (Mtoe) in diesel and petrol consumption for that year. At $52/barrel (bbl) of crude, this would imply a net savings of roughly Rs 3.9 lakh crore (approximately $60 billion) in 2030.
